The Oak Tree Wellness Resort Inspired by Jordan’s Natural Heritage

Designed by Rana Barakat, The Oak Tree Wellness Resort in Ajloun is inspired by the region’s iconic oak trees, with architecture that mirrors the shape of an oak leaf and blends seamlessly into the surrounding mountain landscape.

The resort’s architecture transforms botanical inspiration into a built environment through overlapping leaf-shaped wings that flow naturally across the terrain. Vegetated roofs crown each level, contributing to thermal comfort, rainwater collection, and biodiversity while strengthening the connection between the structure and its environment. A carefully selected palette of rough stone, natural wood, and earth-toned finishes allows the resort to blend seamlessly into the forested setting.

Visitors arrive through a curved approach road that gradually reveals the property before opening into a landscaped forecourt filled with native plants and aromatic herbs. This arrival sequence introduces guests to an experience centered on tranquility and a deep appreciation for nature.

Inside, expansive suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows that frame sweeping views of the surrounding treetops, creating an immersive relationship with the landscape. Wellness amenities are positioned throughout the resort to encourage relaxation and renewal. An open-air yoga platform, a spa crafted with local stone, and a fitness facility are integrated into the natural setting to foster a sense of calm. A curvilinear pool mirrors the building’s flowing geometry, while a palm-frond pavilion draws inspiration from traditional Jordanian architecture through a contemporary luxury interpretation.
