Interview With Tanumoy Das From India

Tanumoy Das

Tanumoy Das is a software engineer who enjoys photography and travels. He got into photography after capturing the sunrise in Darjeeling at age 8.

My name is Tanumoy Das and by profession I am a software engineer. Traveling is one of my hobbies. From an early age, I was interested in my father's camera and going through our family photo album was one of my pastimes. During my first visit to Darjeeling at the age of 8, I witnessed the mesmerizing sunrise over Mt Kanchenjungha and actually wanted to carry the moments with me, which later interested me to capture the moments with the lens. That's how I got into photography.

Photography is a powerful medium for storytelling. My goal is to capture moments and share them with viewers and also carry the moment with me.

As a photographer, any recognition from photography awards inspires and motivates me a lot.

I was inspired by Dr. Abdul Kalam's famous quote: "If you fail, never give up because failure is your first attempt at learning."

I like to portray the skyline of cities in different lighting conditions of the day.

I am truly humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award from the New York Photography Awards. Capturing moments through the lens has always been a passion of mine, and to be recognized among such talented peers is a remarkable validation of the dedication and effort I have put into my craft. I extend my deepest gratitude to the New York Photography Awards for this incredible honor.

I captured two scenes: "Moonrise over NYC Skyline with Statue of Liberty in the foreground that shows a dramatic view of NYC Skyline" and "Moonrise in the middle of famous 42nd Street NYC. In another photo, I captured fireworks on Independence Day over the Hudson River. The New York Photography Awards is such an internationally recognized platform that I thought it would help me showcase my art to the world.

It will definitely inspire and increase my dedication to photography.
