Sushi Tei Jawa, designed by MoMo.Co.,Ltd., introduces a welcoming restaurant interior inspired by the concept of “Japanese Modern and Cute.” The design creates an atmosphere that adapts naturally throughout the day, with soft muted tones bringing brightness and calm during daylight before warm lighting creates a more intimate setting at night.
A custom petal-shaped lighting feature serves as a visual focal point, guiding guests toward the sushi counter framed by a warm reddish-brown backdrop. Deep denim-inspired blue accents and natural beige tones from oak grain and terrazzo complement the rich material palette, while slender wooden columns connect the interior with the open facade.
The ceiling incorporates a basket-weaving motif shared by Japanese and Indonesian craft traditions, adding warmth and cultural character to the dining environment. Together, the lighting, materials, architectural elements, and crafted details encourage gathering and connection among family and friends.
Through its thoughtful integration of cultural references, materiality, and day-to-night ambiance, Sushi Tei Jawa won the Interior Design – Restaurants & Bars category at the MUSE Design Awards, highlighting MoMo.Co.,Ltd.’s achievement in creating an inviting and memorable restaurant environment.
