Interview with Jorge Kánovas | A Self-Taught Photographer from Spain

Jorge Kánovas

Jorge Kánovas is a photographer from Spain whose experience in the world of photography began in 2015. Jorge's photography journey has been one that taught him many lessons which he has been learning from his own mistakes till now where his photographs have won many awards.

Hi! I'm Jorge Kánovas. My experience in the world of photography began in 2015 when I acquired my first camera, a Nikon D3100.

I have always been self-taught in the world of photography, that is, I have been learning from my own mistakes until I got here.

Well, right now, I don't remember it exactly, but I do remember that at first, I was frustrated because the photographs didn't turn out the way I wanted. In the end, everything flows until reaching this moment.

I currently work with a Nikon D750, and I have several lenses, the one I use the most is a Sigma Art and a 50mm fixed lens.

The truth is that right now, the only thing I consider in the short and long term is to make a living from artistic photography.

I think it was when I received my first mention at an international photography award in 2022. I didn't expect to reach the final and I did so with an Honorable Mention. That helped me continue believing in myself more.

Anything inspires me; I always try to bring out what is inside me and transform it. Any thought, adaptation of everyday life as anything goes.

Art, inspiration, and creativity.

Well, for me, it means another new achievement. Being among the first is always nice. Although they always say that the important thing is to participate.

Little Red Riding Hood was intended as a photograph where the colors of autumn predominated. With it, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant colors of autumn. Inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood, we have recreated a charming setting among apple trees adorned with leaves in ocher tones.

We find a magical and welcoming atmosphere where warm colors and the beauty of nature intertwine. Let yourself be transported to this autumnal world full of charm and discover the story that unfolds through every detail of this photograph!

As I have mentioned before, I believe that each recognition encourages you to move forward and not give up at the minimum. Nowadays young people who start get frustrated right away, I always say, you have to keep going.

I am not one to follow the work of photographers, but I would mention Lidia Vives for her ability to create portraits and Ramón Masats because he did whatever he wanted.

They have told me many things, all good, of course. But I remember one that was, "You do what you want, and with that, you succeed."

Don't be afraid and don't stop creating stories through photography.

Honestly, I don't know! I think it may be perseverance.

Well, it is always nice to receive; if you give, you receive. I think it's a positive thing.

Thank you very much for allowing me this interview, and I hope to participate again next year.
