In the realm of product and furniture design, the simplest ideas often leave the most lasting impression. A chair, a lamp, or a table becomes more than its function when the designer’s touch adds character, restraint, and a sense of belonging to the space it inhabits. The same holds true for furnishings, where materials, color, and proportion work together to create harmony, each piece thoughtfully composed to shape an atmosphere that feels both personal and timeless.
Unveiled at Milan Design Week 2025, Clover Collective by ARTA Architects Limited captures a sense of quiet curiosity about how society connect with the objects around them. The modular stool approaches seating as an experience rather than a fixture, inviting people to sit, gather, or pause within spaces that are always in motion. Its form draws from the simple symmetry of a four-leaf clover, layering recycled ABS into a soft, sculptural rhythm. Each tier seems to rest on the next with an almost organic ease, creating a piece that feels as grounded as it is open to interpretation.
What makes Clover Collective particularly intriguing is how it’s made. ARTA Architects Limited used Fused Granular Fabrication (FGF) 3D printing, the designers rework discarded ABS, from earpods, umbrella handles, and other small objects, into a new material language. Instead of hiding the traces of its origins, the process gives the surface a subtle texture that speaks of renewal. The stool’s five-layer structure mirrors the growth of its namesake, echoing nature’s quiet precision through technology.
Each layer of the stool traces back to the clover that inspired it, a quiet reflection of growth and balance. The base speaks of grounding, the middle of motion, and the top of elegance. Together they create a form that feels deliberate yet spontaneous, much like nature itself. There is a quiet artistry in the way recycled plastic becomes sculptural, its texture holding small traces of its past life. The metallic tones and layered form lend it the presence of an object meant to be touched and noticed.
Recognized for its thoughtful balance of form, material, and meaning, Clover Collective was honored with the Platinum title in the 2025 MUSE Design Awards, under Product Design – Furnishings. It stands as a quiet reminder that even the simplest ideas, when guided by care and curiosity, can redefine the way society experience spaces.
