Zecheng Zhong Turns Electric Dreams Into Reality With SKYWORTH Q

Zecheng Zhong

From his earliest memories, Zecheng Zhong has dreamed of being a car designer. At Skyworth Automotive Design Co., Ltd., he played a major role in designing the SKYWORTH Q—a sporty, high-tech, fully electric hatchback focused on eco-friendly innovation.

I’m continuing to focus on designing platforms that support children and families at scale, while exploring opportunities to apply these principles across new, global outlets with my team.

I am excited about our next steps in providing quality communication to our users and look forward to how I can expand on the positive changes that joyful design can bring to a growing community.

It means our team's efforts have been officially recognized, and it genuinely motivates us to keep moving forward with even greater determination.

As a young team, this recognition is vital for our morale. It increases exposure for our designs, attracts new projects, and enables us to demonstrate our capabilities in diverse areas.

It plays a critical role—for example, we conduct experiments to validate the vehicle’s stance and proportions, which is essential to our process.

It stems from a combination of life experiences, deep market insights, and the collective strength and dedication of our team.

I hope more people come to understand the design process, because great design isn’t created overnight. Truly quality products require careful time, thoughtful refinement, and patience.

I always begin by carefully listening to the client’s perspective to fully understand their needs before engaging in any discussion. Then, I approach the conversation from the product’s standpoint, aiming to find common ground and reach a mutual agreement.

The greatest challenge lies in successfully bringing this vehicle to mass production and eventually introducing it to the market. While we’re still working diligently every day, I’m confident that by uniting our team’s diverse strengths, we’ll soon unveil our creation to the world.

I consciously step away from work at appropriate times—perhaps to play a competitive tennis match or engage in other physical activities—to relieve mental tension and recharge my focus. This deliberate disengagement often reveals alternative solutions and fresh perspectives I wouldn’t see while fully immersed in the problem.

I've always adhered to the principle of 'form follows function,' which gives authentic value to my designs.

Excellence in small things consistently builds winning habits—the true and lasting foundation of sustained success.

What I truly love about Philippe Starck is how his creative mind effortlessly soars beyond conventional design thinking and expectations.
