Barry Cheng, CEO and founder of Beyond Space Technology, grew up in broadcasting and built his career in high-end TV production. He now brings real-time virtual production to new industries, making advanced broadcast technology accessible to any company.
I’m the CEO and founder of Beyond Space Technology. Growing up in a family involved in television, I was exposed to the world of film and broadcasting from a very young age—much earlier than most of my peers. Since I began my career, we’ve been focusing on the high-end broadcast television side of the film industry.
Early on, I realized that many businesses outside of broadcasting also have a strong need for real-time virtual production and other media production services. That insight inspired us to take broadcast-level technology and bring it to other industries, providing planning and production support.
Our goal is to make these advanced technologies accessible—not just something exclusive to TV stations—so that any company can understand and apply them in their own projects.
Our company offers a highly specialized service that draws on long-term TV broadcasting experience and the integration of multiple technologies (for example: video, gaming, and design) to deliver commercial real-time virtual production.
Over the past few years, we’ve evolved beyond being just a system integrator or agency—we’ve been helping clients complete more projects and live productions, and our results have often exceeded what many traditional TV stations can achieve. That progress gave us the confidence to submit our work for this competition.
While the MUSE Creative Awards isn’t the first international award we’ve won this year, being recognized in a global advertising competition has given our entire team a tremendous boost of confidence.
The success of this project doesn’t have a complicated story—it is largely the result of our years of professional experience and a client who placed their trust in us. Large-scale religious events around the world, especially the Mazu Pilrimage, had never incorporated this kind of technology into their live broadcasts before.
So, we decided to integrate our technology into the entire pilgrimage event. Through real-time aerial and AR advertising, we were able to make the experience more engaging for younger audiences and local businesses.
This project introduces a completely new model and standard for promotional applications—not only for my country’s advertising and marketing industry but also for the global religious events market.
Of course. Our real-time aerial AR integration technology is truly unique—it’s not something that can be accomplished with just a single computer and a piece of software. We conduct extensive testing, simulation, and customized development tailored specifically to each event. This ensures that our AR effects remain stable and seamlessly integrated into the real-world environment.
Several other companies in my country have attempted to replicate our approach, but most were unsuccessful. These attempts further highlighted the technological gap between Beyond Space and the rest of the industry, demonstrating just how advanced our solutions are.
Real-time aerial AR technology has been used in other parts of the world, but typically only within specific, limited areas and over short distances. For this project, however, our flight path extended several kilometers and included up to five different locations, covering nearly the entire Dajia district. Achieving this required several months of prior simulation and testing to ensure we could meet our production goals.
Winning this award has meant more to me as internal recognition from our own team for the work we’ve accomplished, rather than external recognition from others. It also gives us a little extra confidence as we take on new projects moving forward!
Everyone has been very happy for us, especially our clients—they are genuinely proud and feel a strong sense of shared accomplishment.
Only three pieces of advice:
- Never follow what everyone else is doing.
- Always challenge yourself with more advanced technologies.
- Never let production pressure disrupt your focus.
We are, at our core, a technology-driven innovation company. Our mission has always been to “continuously innovate and provide every client with unique solutions.” Innovation is genuinely in our DNA—it’s as natural as breathing—so I’ve never worried about keeping up with changes in the creative industry.
You’ll never hit a home run if you don’t swing the bat.
Great marketing and advertising isn’t just about creativity—it’s about combining it with engineering and technology. Exploring innovations from other industries can spark even stronger ideas.
I’d like to sincerely thank Long from Sanlih TV, who believed in us from the very beginning—without his support, we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to win this award. And of course, our deepest gratitude also goes to Mazu for her blessings!
A perfect fusion of technology and cultural promotion.
Next, we’re launching Asia’s first virtual pop star show, pushing AR technology to new heights. We can’t wait for everyone to watch and support it!
