At Mint Films we have three rules – story is everything, strive for quality, and fun is mandatory. We are a team of creative filmmakers who love doing good work with good people. For the last ten years, we've worked with some of Australia's biggest brands and agencies to make TV and online commercials, social content, short films, documentaries and music videos.

Winning a Platinum Award this year has been great. It is a really good indication that the work we are producing is of a high quality and is also a great recognition of the amazing work the entire team involved is doing.

The project that we entered in 2019 was titled Tattoo for our client, TAB.The creative was developed by the team at M&C Saatchi Sydney. It was a piece of content that was specifically designed to let customers know that the branding was changing from Ubet to TAB. The story sees Dave getting a new tattoo. He walks out of the parlour, chuffed, only to be confronted by the news that Ubet is changing to TAB. He slowly realises that he has just gotten a tattoo for a brand that no longer exists and dejectedly heads back into the tattoo parlour. We loved the comedy and execution of this piece and thought it was a great one to showcase our comedic storytelling abilities and the excellence of our craft.

The biggest challenge with this project was the timeline. We had limited pre-production time and needed to find a location that would not only work for our tattoo parlour but also have an old frontage that could be in the middle of refurbishing from a Ubet to TAB. Luckily, we were able to find a location that worked for us.The two locations appear to be next door to each other in the edit, however, in reality they are several kilometres from each other. We achieved this through some smart coverage and some great set dressing.

Winning a platinum award for this project has been great. We’ve been able to illustrate the strength of the work, whilst also giving everyone who worked on it the recognition they deserve.

I’d say have a look at the projects that won the year before and assess your work subjectively to see if you think you meet the entry criteria. If you do, then go for it.

We always strive to create the best work possible, no matter the project, client or budget. Having this mindset has helped us to continually produce great, award winning work.
