The Beauty of Personal Expression - Photography with Andrea Dávila

The winning photos each hold a unique narrative within them. Often, this narrative begins as an internal dialogue within my mind as I explore and search for subjects to capture through my lens. I find myself pondering, "How can I offer others a fresh perspective on what I see?" 

There are moments when I capture an image solely for myself, cherishing the moment and emotions it evokes, which I enjoy revisiting in quiet contemplation.

I carefully selected the images to submit for the competition by considering the categories and choosing photographs that resonated with my personal interpretation of each category.

I believe that my innate sense of artistic curiosity led me to delve into the realm of photography. As someone who dabbles in various mediums, it felt only natural to explore this particular form of artistic expression as well.

I do not adhere to a specific genre of photography as I believe that confining myself to a single style would hinder the natural evolution of my art. Traditional constraints do not inspire me; instead, I prefer to roam freely in pursuit of innovative and unconventional expressions. My creative process remains fluid, allowing me to embrace whichever direction feels inherently right at any given moment.

I do not adhere to a particular set up or features as I am constantly exploring new possibilities and experimenting with various options.

Photography is a tool for me to document the beauty and complexity of the world around me, from the mundane to the extraordinary. I am drawn to capturing the fleeting moments, the hidden details, and the quirky perspectives that often go unnoticed. 

My goal is to evoke a sense of wonder and curiosity in my viewers. I can only hope that anyone who gazes upon my photographs may experience the profound joy that enveloped me in the very moment of capturing each poignant image.

The most challenging aspect in capturing a winning shot for me lies in the relentless self-doubt that often plagues my mind, questioning if I could have achieved a more superior image. 

My utmost inspiration is cultivated when I immerse myself in the serenity and stillness of nature. 

Communication is my biggest influence by far. My photography is a heartfelt expression of my deepest desire to share my unique perspective of the world with others. It is a profound longing to connect and engage in meaningful conversations through the art form that speaks to my soul. The simple act of individuals experiencing my work and delving into their thoughts and emotions is a constant source of inspiration for me. 

With every photograph I capture, I aim to not only showcase the beauty that surrounds us but also to provoke a sense of wonder and introspection in those who encounter my art. Each image is imbued with a myriad of feelings that often transcend words, which encourages me to communicate on a deeper level with my audience. Matthew Giedraitis holds a special place in my heart as a guiding light on this creative journey. 

His unwavering support and insightful conversations about my work have opened up new avenues of understanding and connection that I enjoy getting lost in with him. He has a unique ability to help me explore different facets of myself that I express through my art.

I would advise artists to trust their instincts and create art that truly resonates with their unique vision and style. Rather than following fleeting trends, I encourage them to cultivate their creativity and explore various mediums. 

Dabbling in different forms of art, even if proficiency is not immediately achieved, serves to enhance the depth and breadth of one's artistic capabilities. By embracing a diverse range of artistic expressions, individuals can more effectively convey the full extent of their talent and imagination.

The singular piece of counsel I would offer to an individual embarking on a new journey is to be open to the possibility of starting anew, embracing the idea of restarting, reevaluating, or even experiencing setbacks and pauses in order to pave the way for a different approach. I believe that the process of beginning is fluid and subject to change, necessitating a willingness to adapt and navigate the circumstances at hand with a sense of fluidity and grace.

How much you edit a photo can really change how it looks and feels. It all depends on what you want people to get from the picture. Sometimes it's a big deal, other times not so much. It's all about the vibe you're going for. 

I view AI as simply a tool, much like any other tool in your creative arsenal. With the right knowledge and application, it can definitely assist in achieving your desired outcomes. However, I firmly believe that the unique blend of your personal perspective and imaginative touch will always be irreplaceable in your artistic endeavours. No one will have the creative approach that only you can offer. 

All of it. I want to photograph and see everything, because I believe each and every thing holds its own special story that deserves to be seen and heard. I couldn't possibly choose just one thing or person, because they are all so unique and special in their own way.
