Sawhorse Productions introduced an interactive campaign for One Battle After Another that transformed film promotion by connecting cinema, gaming, and real-world participation, winning the Film – Innovation category.
Designed to capture the attention of Gen Z and Alpha audiences, the campaign centered on an expansive Alternate Reality Game (ARG) inspired by the film’s "French 75" resistance. Participants followed physical flyers that unlocked secret phone trees and led them into a dedicated Discord community, creating a shared journey fueled by discovery and collaboration.
The experience expanded through two custom Fortnite islands, Rise and Shine and La Revolución, developed with Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). Players solved multiplayer puzzles, encountered cinematic boss battles, and interacted with characters from the film in immersive digital environments. A proprietary proximity scanner deepened gameplay by encouraging participants to decode clues and navigate shifting alliances. Creative partnerships with artist Ravi Zupa and digital creator Wahony reinforced the campaign’s distinctive identity across physical and online spaces.
The campaign generated 43 million impressions, including 3 million organic and paid exposures, alongside 275,000 unique plays with an average engagement time of 13 minutes. Industry recognition followed, with critics praising its inventive fusion of storytelling and gameplay. This groundbreaking achievement culminated in Sawhorse Productions receiving a winning distinction in the Film – Innovation category, celebrating a visionary contribution to the future of cinematic engagement.
